Gutters

Move the water away from the house.

Gutters that overflow or drain at the wrong spot send water straight to your foundation. We size the run to the roof, pitch it to the downspouts, and route the water out and away.

Know the signs

When the gutters stop doing their job.

Gutters are easy to forget until the water goes where it should not. These are the signals it is time to replace them.

Overflowing or clogged

Water sheets over the front edge in a hard rain because leaves and grit have packed the trough.

Sagging or pulling away

Sections that dip in the middle or lean off the fascia because the hangers or the wood behind them have given out.

Water pooling at the foundation

Downspouts that dump right against the house, leaving standing water and eroded soil along the base.

Rust and seam leaks

Rust streaks and drips at the joints, where old sectional gutters split apart and let water through.

Peeling fascia or soffit rot

Paint lifting and soft, dark wood along the trim boards, a sign water has been sitting where it should not.

Moisture under the house

A damp basement or crawlspace after storms, because poor drainage sends roof water straight down the wall.

What a gutter job includes

Sized right, pitched right, routed away.

  • ✓Seamless gutter runsFormed on site to the length of each roof edge so there are no mid-run joints to split and leak.
  • ✓Proper pitch to the downspoutsEvery run set to slope toward the outlets so water moves instead of standing in the trough.
  • ✓Downspouts routed away from the foundationOutlets and extensions placed to carry water out past the base of the house.
  • ✓Guards to keep debris outCovers over the trough so leaves and grit stay out and the water keeps flowing.
  • ✓Fascia and soffit checkedThe wood behind the gutter inspected, and rotted trim called out before we hang anything new.

Gutter questions

What are seamless gutters?+

Seamless gutters are formed on site from one continuous coil, cut to the length of each roof edge. Because there are no mid-run joints, there are far fewer places for the gutter to split, rust, or leak over time. The only seams are at the corners and the outlets.

Do I need gutter guards?+

Guards help most on homes with trees close to the roof, where leaves and grit clog the trough and cause overflow. They are an option, not a requirement. We will tell you whether your roofline and surroundings make them worth it.

How long does a gutter job take?+

It depends on the roofline, how many downspouts you need, and any fascia or soffit repair. We give you the timeline in the written scope before we start.

Can you fix rotted fascia or soffit while you are there?+

Yes. We check the wood behind the old gutters and call out any rot before hanging anything new. Replacing bad fascia or soffit is part of the scope when it is needed, so the new gutters have something solid to hold.

Why does my basement or crawlspace get wet after it rains?+

Often the gutters are the cause. When downspouts dump at the base of the house, that water runs straight down the wall and into the ground next to the foundation. Pitching the runs and routing the downspouts away moves that water out where it belongs.
